The concept of space in short stories of Julio Ramón Ribeyro Sára Jakoubková Abstract The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to capture the space in the short stories of Julio Ramón Ribeyro, a Peruvian writer from the Generation of the 5Os in Peru, whose work exhibits a combination of social criticism, fantasy, and humour that reflects the hopeless life of Peruvian inhabitants, as reflected in the title of his most famous collection of short stories, Palabra del mudo (Marginal Voices). The first part of the thesis focuses on the author's life and work, as well as the historical and literary context. The second part is focused on the depiction of space in literature, with an emphasis on urban space and subsequently on the space in the author's specific short stories.
